I have the honour to inform you that in

consequence of the promotion of Mr. H. K. Holmes to be Crown Solicitor a vacancy exists in the post of Assistant Land Officer in this Colony and I should be glad therefore if steps may be taken to procure a fully qualified Solicitor for the post, who should have had at least two or three years' practical experience in conveyancing or the law of

property.

The salary attached to the post is 2600 per anmum rising by annual increments of £25 to £800 and the holder comes under the usual regulations as regards rented Government quarters or an allowance in aid of rent in lieu

of quarters.

As the work in the Lend Office has increased

greatly during the last few years it is of the utmost importance that it should not long remain understaffed and I should be glad therefore if a candidate can be selected and sent out as soon as possible.

Mr. G. H. Wakeman the retiring Crown Solicitor might be consulted in selecting a candidate.
